Yahoo reporter "confused" about recent Mets Rick Rolling...

Do you have any idea what getting "Rick Roll'd" means?

Don't feel bad. Neither did I, at least not until sometime late last week. That's when, thanks to the Mets, I discovered it's the latest hit among the proverbial "kids."

It has been for awhile now, too.

Here's the definition of "rick roll," from Urban Dictionary:

To be fooled by a mislabeled video link that takes you to an extremely 80s video of Rick Astley.

The link said it was the latest Jessica Simpson + Zhang Ziyi + Halle Berry sex tape, but I was rick rolled.

Yeah, I still don't really get it, but apparently the Mets have now become the victims of one of the world's biggest "Rick Roll." Thanks to the Fark Army (and Phillies fans, too), more than 5 million people wrote in Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" as a season-long song choice for the eighth inning at Shea Stadium.

That total was more than enough to win the contest, though the Mets have now changed things up a bit and will hold a "live runoff" between the six competing songs for the remainder of the first homestand.

Since I'm still kinda confused over this whole thing, I'll just check out by saying I find the whole thing kind of lame and not really all that funny. If you're going for '80s cheese, at least opt for something enjoyable like Michael McDonald, Christopher Cross or even the great SCTV parody of both.

Also, I am getting old.
