Ian Rogers Leaves Yahoo To Start His Own Gig

an Rogers, Yahoo’s vice president of video and music applications, has left the company to launch a startup of his own, according to a post on his personal blog. Ian has joined forces with Peter Gotcher and Shamal Ranasinghe to launch the new company which is unsurprisingly music related, and is called Topspin Media.

The company is in stealth mode at the moment, and not much is known about it; what we do know, however, is that it’s going to be a new digital music distribution model for indie artists.

In his blog post, Ian dropped an interesting bit of info on us. While still at Yahoo, he was apparently working on an “insanely cool stealth product” which was also his “primary music listening vehicle.” I haven’t been too impressed with Yahoo’s music efforts so far, but maybe they surprise me with this one - if it ever goes live.
